What You Can Expect

Your hearing assessment is designed to be comfortable, comprehensive, and completely tailored to you.

1. Warm Welcome & Understanding Your Concerns
We begin by taking the time to get to know you. Your hearing story, lifestyle, and concerns are central to our approach.

2. Otoscopic Ear Examination
We check your ear canals and eardrums for wax, infection, or any abnormalities using otoscopy.

3. Middle Ear Function Testing (Impedance Testing)
This checks how well your eardrum and middle ear are functioning – especially important for children and those with frequent ear infections.

4. Comprehensive Hearing Test (Pure Tone Audiometry)
We measure how softly you can hear different tones across a range of pitches and determine whether any hearing loss is present.

5. Speech Discrimination Testing
We assess how well you can hear and understand speech — a vital step in diagnosing and planning next steps.

6. Clear, Compassionate Explanation of Results
We’ll go over your results in plain language, answer all your questions, and guide you on next steps if needed – whether that’s further medical referral, hearing aids, or simply monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q   How long does a hearing assessment take?

Most assessments take around 45–60 minutes. We allow enough time so you never feel rushed.

Q   Do I need a referral from a GP?

No referral is needed for a hearing test. You can book directly with us.  If you have a doctor’s referral letter, you may be able to claim a medicare rebate of $53.60.

Q   Is the test painful or uncomfortable?

Not at all. The tests are non-invasive, gentle, and performed in a calm environment.

Q   Can you test children’s hearing too?

Yes! We see children aged 4 and up for comprehensive hearing assessments and middle ear testing.

Q   Will I need hearing aids?

Not necessarily. Many people don’t, and if you do, we’ll explain your options clearly – with no pressure.

Q   Is your clinic independent or owned by a hearing aid brand?

We’re proudly independent. That means we recommend what’s best for you, not what benefits a manufacturer.  There are no sales targets or pressure.
